Greater Columbus Dahlia Society

Programs for the Public

Want to learn more about gardening and dahlias?  Consider having a live presentation given to your garden club or other organization.    We have three different presentations available – each about one hour in length but can be customized to meet your needs.  Linda and Jeff Laine of the GCDS will participate with your group, sharing their experiences and educate you about dahlias with the aid of scores of photographs of their gardens.  The Laine gardens have been featured in a variety of national and regional magazines.  See one sample photo below.

How to Make Your Garden Pop with Dahlias – Informative for both the novice and experienced gardener, this presentation covers all the basics from starting dahlias in the spring to storing them for the winter.  It includes many tips and entertaining stories.

How to Grow, Show and Judge Dahlias – Goes beyond the basics to focus on the qualities looked for by dahlia judges and how to grow prize-winning blooms.  It includes lessons learned from some of the best growers east of the Mississippi River.

Castle Gardens and Dahlias in Scotland – This presentation is a horticultural travelogue of three weeks of touring some of the world’s most beautiful gardens.  The focus is on gorgeous photographs of spectacular gardens and dahlias along with sharing some travel adventures.
